Budget Session 2018 begins tomorrow

The Budget Session will begin from 29 January till  9 February, 2018. Budget to be presented on 1 February. The second part to be held from 5 March to 6 April.

For the second time, the budget will be presented on 1 February. In 2016, the Government advanced the budget presentation to the first day of February, departing from the practice of presenting it on the last working day of the month, to give more time to departments to spend the money allocated to them.

Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan called an All Party meeting on 28 January, a day before the Budget Session commences.The meeting sought Opposition’s support in order to ensure smooth conduct of proceedings in both Houses of Parliament during the upcoming Budget Session.
