Conviction in a cow vigilantism-related murder in Jharkhand

Alimuddin alias Asgar Ansari was lynched to death by a mob in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh on June 29, 2017  based on suspicions that he was carrying beef.

Eleven of the accused were convicted of his murder on 16 March,2018 in Ramgarh by a Fast track Court. In addition, three of them were convicted of conspiracy.

Even the Supreme Court in a September 2017 observed that “each State should appoint a police officer in each district as a nodal officer to take strict action against cow vigilantism.”
