Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lifts life ban on Russian athletes

International Olympic Committee (IOC) had imposed lifetime Olympic bans on 39 Russian athletes for doping violations at the Sochi Games,2014. Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 1st February 2018 hearing an appeal lifted the ban on 28 of the athletes. Their individual results achieved in Sochi 2014 also reinstated. The athletes are only ineligible for the next edition of the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, starting next week.

In 11 cases, the evidence collected was found to be sufficient to establish an individual anti-doping rule violation.
