Demand for separate High Court – TRS and TDP MPs

The demand for setting up of a separate High Court in Telangana was pressed in the Lok Sabha by ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members, joined by Union Minister from Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad made it clear that while the Telangana High Court would continue to function from the same complex, the Andhra Pradesh High Court would be shifted to a temporary location till the time a new complex is ready.

The Andhra Pradesh government has in principle agreed to set up a High Court for the state in Amaravati for the time being. It had identified certain buildings where it can commence operations on a temporary basis.
