On 12 January, 2018 , after the four sitting judges of the Apex Court had held a press conference and questioned the CJI and the administration of the Court, Bar Council of India decided to form a seven-member delegation to meet the judges of the Supreme Court.
On 14 January, 2018, the delegation of BCI met Justice J Chelameswar at his residence in New Delhi to resolve the issues raised. Later the delegation planned to meet Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Madan Lokur and Kurian Joseph.
Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra separately met high-level delegations of BCI and the SCBA. Supreme Court Bar Association President met the CJI and handed over a resolution of the SCBA on the crisis.
Former Supreme Court Judge Justice P.B. Sawant, former Delhi High Court Chief Justice A.P. Shah, former Judge of Madras High Court Justice K. Chandru and former Bombay High Court Judge Justice H. Suresh have written to the CJI asking him that all sensitive and important cases including pending ones, be dealt with by a Constitution Bench of the five senior most Judges of the Apex Court.
