Proposal for International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion on use of force

Russia and Belarus have made the proposal to get the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion on the legal consequences of nations using force against others without the approval of the Security Council as required by the UN Charter. India has also supported the proposal.

The Charter (Chapter VII) requires Security Council approval for the use of force when it is not an exercise of the right to self-defence.
